'Green' Design

J Duggan & Associates has believed in and been promoting ‘green’ long before it was fashionable.  As much as the client and design program will allow we work with the land, fitting projects onto the site, not the other way around. We look at energy conservation in terms of solar and wind patterns; we review access, slopes, existing vegetation etc, everything that has an impact on the site and the success of the project. The firm designs storm water management plans, which include harvesting and mitigation of storm water along with grading plans that minimize the disturbance to our project site and the surrounding area.

The Firm also performs consultations regarding the location and orientation of buildings and support items on a site to either take advantage of or minimize the impact from existing site conditions

J Duggan & Associate feels certain that as a result of this national ‘green’ awareness, requirements for approval on projects are going to be more stringent and the processes involved in obtaining them are only going to become more involved.  In order to help our clients navigate the maze that is to come J Duggan & Associates is LEED certified (although as said in the beginning, we feel we have been green long before there was a LEEDS program) in addition J Duggan is qualified for and will obtain an Arborist license. We believe these additional credentials along with our License, as Landscape Architects will enable us to help our clients advance their projects through the various approval and certification processes in a timely manner. This should be completed by the beginning of 2011.

In summary the firm believes that the best projects are achieved when character of a site is recognized and taken advantage of right from the beginning-not treated as an afterthought. This used to be an optional choice, it is now going to be regulated and have to be dealt with. J Duggan & Associates is well suited to help our clients do that.

"Joe and his team were wonderful. They guided us smoothly through the planning, drafting and execution phases on time and on budget. I can't recommend them enough." -- D. M.

"Fantastic service!"" -- A. S.
